Mortgages are a complicated system that takes a lot of studying and hard work to succeed. It is important to know as much as you can in order to ensure success. This video is for all the new mortgage brokers out there looking for some life lessons and those figuring out what’s really involved in the business. I’ve had my share of lessons a little too late, but now I can share everything you need to know with you right here!

(video transcript)
Some of the lessons I’ve learned as a mortgage broker is it’s all about relationships. Relationships and consistency in those relationships — for example, realtor referrals. There are three main concerns. Are you gonna close on time? Are you gonna keep me informed throughout the entire process? And are you gonna follow up on my leads?

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve spoken to realtors and they say that their loan officers don’t even pick up the phone. This is the business of being there for the borrower and for that buyer on their time. A lot of them work different hours, some work nine to five jobs, some work night jobs.

You just really gotta be open to when they’re available and be ready when they’re available. You have to be consistent with that. And that’s how you really start to build those relationships, build those partnerships. They know that when they call you, either you’re gonna pick up or you’re gonna get back to ’em in a very timely manner.
